Orderly books, 1779-1781.

Orderly books, 1779-1781, kept by Lieutenant Samuel Frost, Adjutant. They contain headquarters, division, brigade and regimental orders, including some accounts of courts-martial. They are dated from various places in New York and New Jersey: Highlands, Orangetown, Teaneck, Steenrapie, Tappan, Totoway, Morristown, New Windsor, and West Point. The first four volumes are accompanied by a typed copy. The last volume contains some resolutions of the Continental Congress. It covers part of the winter of 1780-1781, when the Massachusetts line marched from Totoway, via Haverstraw, to the Hudson Highlands for winter quarters.
